Account & Data Deletion

Delete your account in the app

1. Open the 2ndBook app and sign in to the account you want to delete.
2. Go to Profile, then Settings.
3. Tap "Delete account".
4. We send a one-time confirmation code (OTP) to the email registered on your account.
5. Enter the code to confirm. Once confirmed, deletion begins immediately.

Delete your account by email

If you cannot access the app, send an email from the address registered on your account to support@secondbook.kz with the subject "Delete account". We verify the request and process it the same way.

Delete specific data without deleting your account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove individual items. Inside the app you can delete specific data and keep your account and everything else intact:

• Delete a book or file: open it in your Library, open its menu and choose Delete. This removes that book or file and its reading progress and bookmarks. Your account and your other books stay.
• Delete a conversation: open the chat, open its menu and choose Delete. This removes that conversation and its messages for you.
• Remove uploaded content: open the book you uploaded, open the file menu and delete the file. The upload is removed; your account stays.

These actions delete only the item you choose. Your account, profile and remaining data stay intact.

What we delete

When your account is deleted, we remove:

• Your profile, including your name and email address.
• Books, documents and files you uploaded.
• Chat and support messages you sent.
• Reviews and complaints you submitted.
• Reading progress and bookmarks.
• Device tokens used for notifications and sync.

What we keep, and for how long

We keep only the minimum data the law requires, solely for legal compliance, and then erase it. In line with our Privacy Policy and GDPR document:

• Basic account records may be retained for up to 3 years after deletion.
• Transaction records are retained for 5 years, as required by tax legislation.
• These records are held only to meet legal obligations and to defend legal claims. They are not used for any other purpose.

Copies may briefly remain in secure, encrypted backups until those backups rotate on their normal schedule.

How long deletion takes

Deletion from our active systems begins as soon as you confirm. We complete deletion requests within 30 days, or up to 90 days for complex requests (with notification) — the same response times stated in our GDPR document.
